Tony Scott (1944 - 2012)
They always say, "you don't know what you got till it's gone."
There is nothing more true than that statement tonight. Tonight we lost a truly amazing filmmaker in Tony Scott.
One of his films, TRUE ROMANCE, really had a profound effect on me. It showed me that there is such a thing as true love and I have been looking for my Alabama ever since.
But I took that for granted. I focused on the big budget flashy films, and listed the people who directed those films as inspiration.
I never talked about how much TRUE ROMANCE meant to me. Or the amazing job that he did on the film, until now. When it's too late. After he's long gone.
It may seem fleeting, and very ill timed, but thank you Tony. You changed my life and I never even acknowledged it. Rest in Peace.
This scene is just beautiful.
